Family & Addiction Medicine
Dr. Terena D. Gimmillaro completed her undergraduate degree at Oregon State University. She then completed medical school at Western Health Sciences University in Southern California and returned to Portland, Oregon for residency training in Family Medicine at Providence Hospital. Early in her career, Dr. Gimmillaro developed a special interest in helping patients who struggle with alcohol and substance use which eventually inspired her to obtain a second board certification as an Addiction Medicine specialist. In addition to her work in the private practice arena, Dr. Gimmillaro has cared for patients with substance use disorders at several local community-based treatment centers and continues to work in the hospital-based setting providing inpatient alcohol and drug detoxification treatment. She interacts with her patients in a kind, caring, and compassionate manner and enjoys creating a safe space in which patients can process the transformative experiences that occur throughout the journey of recovery.
